Overview

As far as boutique hotels go this conversion of a cliff top mansion is perfect. The setting is as near perfect as it can be whether you visit during a stormy January as we did, or on a hot summer's day. The hotel do not have an accessible room but do have level access to certain rooms, a disabled toilet and have made the restaurant/bar etc as accessible as possible for an old listed building.

Transport & Parking

The carpark is gravel but two disable parking spaces are adjacent to a flagstone path, on the level and approximately 20m from a wide access door with a very small lip that I could manage by myself. As we drove I do not know where nearest public transport is.

Access

The ground floor of the hotel offers reception, lounge, resident lounge, bar and restaurant on one level with ample seating and space in front of several open fires.

Toilets

Fully accessible wc with good space and kept immaculately clean.

The rooms are conversions so not new build, our room was 10m outside the hotel like a mini bungalow and had double french doors opening to the lawn and a view over the Poole Bay to the Needles; alas the bed was very high so I needed assistance transferring. Our bathroom had a 70cm doorway so the maintenance team needed to remove the door which is far from ideal but we made it work. Wash hand basin mounted on vanity unit made access tricky, no grab handles and the monsoon shower had a token gesture of a shower seat built into the tiled cubicle - great for a paraplegic, not so good for a tetraplegic. I would not recommend this hotel to a disabled guest travelling alone or someone who needs very specific needs.
