Amazing variety of pies and mostly accessible pub

Overview

This pub is famous for its pies! They are also listed with various organisations as a motorhome stopover. You can stay overnight in their car park and they even have electric hook-ups for £10 per night. We had a lovely meal delivered to our motorhome and later, our first post-Covid drink in a pub.

Transport & Parking

We arrived by motorhome. The road in is quite narrow but not that busy so we had no problems. Nice wide entry into a huge car park. We'd booked electrics and they are all along the back edge of the car park. There are some blue badge spaces near to the entrance.

Access

Getting in and around the pub was fine. The door is a little narrow but I got my chair in fine with my assistance dog walking backwards in front of me. The pub and restaurant are on split levels and there is a step but I think you can get between them by going outside via the beer garden. They also said they have a portable ramp but I hate those things! The pub has dog friendly areas but it was Liggy's (my assistance dog) first time back in this kind of environment and I asked if we could sit away from other dogs to ensure she wasn't distracted. They were fine with that and moved chairs so we could fit in comfortably. The pub was quite quiet and felt safe.

Toilets

I asked if they had an accessible toilet. They said yes but it was down a few steps. That was when they said they had a ramp but I was not keen to try that (they are always too steep) and so I went back to the motorhome and used my own.

Staff

The staff were all lovely! So helpful and polite! Particularly one lady called Verity - she went the extra mile or two to ensure my allergies were catered for and that I could have the pie of my choice. We were expecting our meal to be delivered take away style, in boxes but it was all plated up really nicely.

Photos

The inside of the pub/bar area, carpeted and with plenty of space. Huge car park with several motorhomes around the edge. Picture of the pub from across the car park.
