Overview

This pub was a stand out due to the friendly service and good facilities that helped promote independence for all.

Transport & Parking

4

The car park which was placed next to the pub has a large amount of spaces with only a handful marked as disabled car park spaces. Although these spaces were well placed closest to the pub. Opposite the street from the pub where bus stops for public transport however there was no crossing put in place from one side of the busy road to the other and a wall in place meaning individuals would have to walk right around the pub to access the main entrance.

Access

3.5

The main enterance of the pub was slightly rampped making wheelchair access easy. The doors at the entrance are heavy double doors which could cause slight issues for wheelchair users when approaching alone. The main bar and till is in eay sight from the main doors meaning that if issues did occur, saff would witness and be on hand to help. Everything inside the pub is on one level and the ground is all eaving allowing for wheelchairs to move smoothly. The tables in the pub are spread out well from one and other giving suitable space for wheelchairs and other items.

Toilets

4

All the toilets are situated at the back of the pub around the main bar. Here there is the option of the men's, women's and a disabled toilet. The doors to the men and women's are very narrow and heavy. The disabled toilet is the first one you come to allowing you enough space to open the door fully without disturbing others. The disabled toilet is fully furnished with all the necessary equipment and is large enough to manoeuvre a wheelchair in with or without someone accompanying them.

Staff

4

Bar staff as well as waiters and waitress are caring and understanding offering options and checking regularly to see if everything was to standard. Staff were friendly and not fazed by the individual in the wheelchair treating the individual the same as others in the environment. They were extremely helpful when offering to carry drinks to tables and opening and closing doors.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

Although it was not used on this visit, the pub had a beer garden with wheelchair access where people could enjoy food and drink.
