Overview
The O2 Arena in Greenwich is a major venue for events of many kinds, from music to sport. Using the site of the Millennium Dome, it's been designed with excellent access in mind. As well as the Arena, the site also houses the smaller indigO2, which is accessible though has not been visited for this review, as well as a cinema and exhibition centre. There are also a wide variety of bars and restaurants, all of which are accessible.
Transport & Parking
There is plenty of disabled parking available, and it's possible (and advisable) to book and pay for this in advance. Discounts are available for blue badge holders. Assistance is available, if needed, to get you from the car to the venue. The car park is a fair distance from the entrance, and there's a road that needs to be crossed. There is also a drop-off area approx. 150m from the main entrance. The O2 can also be accessed by tube and various bus routes as well as via the Thames Clipper. The nearest tube station (North Greenwich) is reportedly fully accessible.
Access
Access within the venue is excellent. On presenting tickets at the entrance, you should be escorted or directed to your seat. For music events, there is step-free access to a dedicated disabled viewing area situated close to the left of the stage. There are also other disabled-access viewing places at a higher level of the Arena, accessible via lift. The sight lines from both are excellent, though the higher-level seating is a bit distant from the stage.
Toilets
There are accessible toilets situated throughout the venue, including near to the entrance to each of the accessible viewing areas. These are of variable size and design, and include at least one with a hoist.
Staff
On each of our visits, staff have been friendly and helpful throughout.
