Overview
Congratulations to Wetherspoons for making this pub a comfortable and welcoming place for wheelchair users. Although the pub is laid out on three drastically different levels, platform lifts make the transition between them easy. There is at least one well-appointed but smelly accessible toilet. I recommend this place with only very small reservations (see below).
Transport & Parking
Tottenham Court Road tube station is near by and fully step-free (Northern Line and Central Line) but check the lift status with TfL before you travel because the lifts at this station are notoriously and disgracefully unreliable, despite being very new. A few bus routes pass very near the pub.
Access
Step-free main entrance in Charing Cross Road (there is also an entrance in Greek Street), and sturdy platform lifts to take you from either end of the pub to the sunken central section. Two problems for wheelchair users: in the central section of the pub there are some raised areas, about a foot higher than the main area, which are not wheelchair-accessible. In addition, many of the tables are of the high kind with stools. These two facts severely limit the choice of tables available to wheelchair users.
Toilets
At least one accessible toilet, very near the platform lift at the Charing Cross Road end of the pub. Well laid out, everything in good order, but a bit smelly - not enough to make you faint or puke up, but less than agreeable.
Staff
The staff are very sweet and helpful. One star lost because it was hard to get served at the bar, and they staff are sloppy about noting who should be served next.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
This pub was formerly the famous music venue the Marquee Club (1988-96), and before that was one of London's first cinemas, the Cambridge Circus Cinematograph Theatre.
