Overview

I stayed here in a twin room with my Mum for a week last July. The room was not accessible, however, I could get through the door in my chair and there was plenty of room to store it in the room. There are accessible rooms with wet room facilities in the hotel but none were available when I booked. The cleaning staff are very accommodating, the mattress was very hard and was making my nighttime pain worse, they provided a mattress topper to make it a bit more comfortable and really went out of their way to help. The hotel has lots of steps and bendy corridors with fire doors at regular intervals. Depending upon where your room is in the hotel dictates the lift. Unfortunately, if you take the wrong lift you may meet a series of 3 or 4 steps barring your way further. On the first day the lift which was needed for my room broke down. The only way to the room was by using a different lift then making way up/down those steps, initially the staff tried a portable ramp but it was too steep and the turn at the bottom too sharp for me to manoeuvre quickly enough, causing me to s slam into the wall, after that I just crawled up and down those steps. Unfortunately, it was a Sunday and they could not get a repairman till the following day when thankfully it was fixed. The all-you-can-eat buffet offered plenty of options catering for all sorts of diets. The waiting staff were happy to help where they could. The lounge area felt a bit cramped for getting around in my wheelchair during busy periods. The concierge were brilliant helping me plan day trips around the island bus service. The restaurant entrance is up some steps with a ramp alongside which felt a bit on the steep side to me. There is another set of steps and ramp from the lounge area up to the bar and onwards to the rest of the hotel. The hotel has an indoor and outdoor pool across the lane from it. The outdoor pool has a designated swim area and a play area. There are pool-based classes daily. There are also loungers and parasols situated all around the pool on a first come first served basis. Getting into town in my wheelchair wasn’t a problem, it was all downhill and took lane 20 minutes to get there. Getting back to the hotel wasn’t possible in my wheelchair it was too steep to self propel all that distance. There are plenty of taxis available and it costs £6 one way. The bus drops you at the end of the road to the hotel maybe 50m away but it is quite steep uphill. I don't think there are any private parking facilities at the hotel. He hotel has mobility scooters available to hire.
