Overview
The Medicne Garden is a tranquil restored Victoran Walled Garden with 2 cafes, a couple of eclectic shops and a pamper room (not accessible). In the summer it is a real sun trap and has an accessible decked cafe with a glass screen to protect you from the wind. There is also a greenhouse cafe in the rear which has a ramp (on request). 3 BlueBadge parking spaces and an accessible toilet. The car park ground is rough as are the paythways and gravel by the rear glasshouse cafe. It is, however somewhere different to go on a dry day and make a change from accessible garden centres and pubs to meet friends.
Transport & Parking
3 blue badge parking spaces near to entrance. You would need a car to visit.
Access
There ground is rough but manageable. The main cafe is outdoors and has ramped access to the decking. You do have to cross grass to get to the ramp which is a shame as this can make your wheels unnecessarily messy. The rear cafe is a converted large greenhouse and the staff will willingly come and set up a ramp for you.
Toilets
There is an accessible toilet but you need to have the main door to all the toilets opened for you to enable you to open the accessible toilet door. Flush is on top of the toilet which means you so not have to reach too far, accessible sink and paper towels.
Staff
Glasshouse Cafe staff very pleasant and provided ramp and moved furniture to enable me to reach a comfortable table. Would not be a good pace to go when busy. The outside cafe (not open all year so check the website) is much more spacious.
