Beautiful but hard work

Overview
We attended the Lowry for the theatre (Lyric) but also spent time in the art galleries and restaurant (Pier 9).
Transport & Parking
We parked in the nearby shopping centre which we had pre-booked. Plenty of disabled spaces and easy access to the rest of the area.
Access
The Lowry is a beautiful building, but for some reason especially around the theatre, the floors are steeply slopped which were difficult to access unaided. In a wheelchair this was hard work, but with a walking aid would have been very difficult. Several lifts were easily accessible, and all areas were accessible. There were seats in the art gallery and lots of chairs around the building. The restaurant was easily accessed - we had pre-warned that we needed a wheelchair accessible table and everything was in place when we arrived. Excellent vegan options also!
Toilets
We used the accessible toilets near the male and female toilets - one in each area. Both were large and accessible however, not really appropriate if you have support from someone of the opposite sex. I assume there were other toilets not set up this way but didn’t use them.
Staff
Absolutely outstanding - very helpful.
