Overview

Booking .com would have you think that this has disabled facilities. Yes it has, a wet room ..BUT on using it, I flooded the whole the room and part of the main room carpet as the drain had not been cleared out. We told the staff about the flood made by using the wet room and the trap was emptied that day, however the surround was left dirty after. The mattress clearly hadn't been turned and I didn't sleep at all on the first night. We turned it on the second night finding the label on the mattress "This way up, food end, apr-may-jun". We were staying January! The mattress still had red tags left in it, presumably from labels when it was new. The mattress was still misshapen and very uncomfortable. Neither of us slept well during our stay. There were items not available on the evening menu. It would have been nice to know this before ordering these. Would have liked to see some more local beers on tap. On the plus side, the Inn's location is great for getting to Holy Island and is right on the A1.

Transport & Parking

2

The only dropped kerb in the car park was by a single disabled space which doubles up to a outside washing area for vehicles/ wellies etc. This was being used so we had to park on the gravel area to allow for opening the car doors wide enough. Accessing the room was via a few paving slabs across a garden border which were not wide enough for a wheelchair.

Access

0.5

Getting from room to breakfast at the back of the Inn was via 5 steps, 2 were very steep. Alternatively, wheelchair users can go out of the carpark, onto the pavement around the side of the hotel and in the front door.

Toilets

The accessible toilet is a good size at the back of the inn itself and has the necessary rails. You do have to go through 2 doors to access it.

Staff

1.5

One member of staff was very helpful and she fetched some breakfast items over for me. Others stood around chatting or playing with their phone. We had to ask staff to replenish items (milk, decaf teabags and coffee) at the self-service breakfast. I feel the staff should have been doing this as a matter of course. They were clearing up the breakfast when we and others were not finished. My husband had to explain to another new couple where things were. On letting the duty manager know of our room issues on the second day, he recompensed us with a free drink. He offered us another room, but I would have struggled with the shower. He told us someone would phone me. I'm still waiting...
