This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Walking Aid, Wheelchair, Powerchair, Mobility Scooter
Overview
Excellent Access All Round. We didn't use an accessible room but I'm quite certain they'd be very user friendly if the rest of the hotel is anything to go by. Over 2 weeks we noticed several guests zipping about on mobility scooters or in wheelchairs. Certainly, we noted no obstacles.
Transport & Parking
Only noticed one parking space at front of hotel for disabled parking. However, some apartments ( the new ones with stairs) had their own covered parking areas. There is parking on the street beside the hotel.
Access
Wide concrete ramps leading to all swimming pools and from accommodation blocks to restaurant / bar. Ground floor rooms if required with partially covered patio areas where I noted guests had safely left their mobility scooters. Plenty room to manoeuvre chairs and scooters around the restaurant and around the various food "islands" in the restaurant. Only place you wouldn't be able to get into with a chair is the little on site shop but I'm quite sure staff would help if required.
Toilets
The Accessible Toilet was something to behold and much nicer than you'd see in top London hotels. It's huge and beautifully presented. Unfortunately, this meant that other guests were using it all the time ( possibiy due to inadequate sign posting ) However, I brought this up with management and they promised to take steps to encourage able guests to use the other loos down a staircase from the Reception area.
Staff
Extremely helpful and attentive staff with a Manager who leads from the front and goes out of his way to ensure all guests are Ok. Very accommodating and switched on staff who go all out to assist guests.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
I've stated our visit involved mobility scooter, wheelchair, power chair and walking aid - However, that's because I saw guests using all of these without enountering problems ( we just had a walking aid) . I should also add that the hotel has a seperate, quiet, adults only pool and an adults only lounge ( all accessible ) and nice if you have days when you just want a bit of peace and quiet. There's also a fab hydro therapy pool with various water massage jets for different parts of the body. However, you'd have to be careful getting in and out of this pool.
