Overview
We were excited to hear that the Ivy was coming to Edinburgh and it wasn't long before we booked a table for late afternoon tea. There is level access to the building but the entrance door is not automatic. We were seated at a table not far from the entrance and although we did not experience any problems with the temperature as the days get colder it may be advisable to ask for a table further into the restaurant to avoid any drafts. We were unexpectedly offered the chance to have an early dinner instead of an afternoon tea. We decided to take them up on their offer. Everyone thoroughly enjoy their meal especially the desserts. The atmosphere was great. We all had a brilliant time.
Transport & Parking
Parking was not easy partly due to roadworks which made the nearby disabled parking bays impossible to use. Instead I and others where dropped off outside the restaurant while my dad the driver hunted for a space. Luckily due to the fact that I have a disabled blue parking badge he manage to park a short distance away on George Street. There are plenty of bus stops in close proximity is to the restaurant and Waverley train station is close. Another option is of course the Edinburgh tram which is also very close.
Access
There is level access to the restaurant but the entrance door is not automatic. There is an upstairs dining area with further tables but it is only wheelchair accessible if you use the service lift. The ground floor is modern, spacious and has a variety of seating options. The chairs a the bar are very high (see photo).
Toilets
There is a disabled toilet on the ground floor beside the stairs. The disabled toilet has a emergency red cord. See photo
Staff
The staff were lovely. The particular waitress serving us was really friendly, helpful and attentive.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
