Overview
Helpful, understanding staff, with great attitude. My requests were met with ease. Space to move, and felt safe. Plus enjoyed the food in a relaxing environment
Transport & Parking
There are dedicated blue badge bays at the West gate to the gardens. No road to cross with lots of space for unloading wheelchairs, at the West Gate. Regular buses at the East Gate, although this is a distance from the Gateway cafe. There is another care at the East Gate, however I haven't been there.
Access
No steps, level access throughout, with well thought out slopes into venue. Lift behind the stairs to the first floor from the shop and exhibition area on the ground floor. Seating on the ground level, so rests are possible getting to the lift, and generally around the area. Flat access onto terrace from the gardens. Wheelchair and mobility scooters, available for use, in plentiful numbers, allowing access to the gardens, restaurants.
Toilets
The accessible toilet was well sign posted, easy to find. On the same level as the Restaurant. Grab rails, clean and tidy. Had room to manoeuvre with walking frame. Only issue is it feels a fair distance to get to depending on where you are sitting in the Restaurant. Also accessibility toilets right at the entrance to the gardens, without the dreaded baby changing facilities. Easy assess for wheelchairs with room to move.
Staff
Friendly, helpful, thoughtful. Had a better understanding of disability than anywhere else I have been. Made me feel comfortable not different, which was fantastic.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Lovely. bright, open space, overlooking the gardens, with an open expanse of outdoor terrace to sit on good days. Left smiling.
