The Empress of Broughton Street

Visit date:
Overview
One of Broughton Street's newest bar additions is quirky and friendly, but sadly not very accessible.
Transport & Parking
I wouldn't drive here are the on-street parking isn't good. The buses are good however, and it's close to York Place tram stop!
Access
Not great. There is a small lip into the venue, and double doors. The doors are wide, but not automatic. Once inside, half of the restaurant is up a set of stairs, and the seats downstairs are mostly built into the window which isn't ideal if you are using a wheelchair. The bar is high with no dropped counter. Lighting is good for a bar however.
Toilets
I did not see any accessible toilets.
Staff
Lovely, very friendly and took our picture.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
It's annoying that this restaurant is split on two levels as it makes it mostly inaccessible.
