Lovely Old Inn, with amazing views, ticks some of the accessibility boxes, but not quite making the mark

Overview
After a long afternoon looking online and phoning for accessible accommodation between Fort William and Skye, we booked this Inn who stated they had accessible and ground floor rooms. Booking had to be made through their booking department, and despite emphasising that I was in a wheelchair, and was unable to manage steps, we were allocated a room with 3 steps to negotiate on arrival. The gentleman didn’t seem to understand the issue that steps were impossible, but kindly upgraded us for free to a ground floor suite. To access the restaurant or bar we had to go outside and around to the fire exit , as there was a step at bar entrance. This involved negotiating a partially flagged pathway, the rest being deep gravel, which my multi terrain power chair struggled to cope with, manual or smaller power chairs would not have managed. The food , staff, and accommodation were all fantastic, and the Inn could be made more accessible with a few minor changes
Transport & Parking
VERY remote area, we travelled by car 2 dedicated accessible driving spaces at the entrance to reception The inn is on the main public bus route to Skye
Access
Issues with allocation of room, and accessing restaurant as mentioned. Ramp to main entrance with automatic door with accessible button , but then you had to negotiate a very heavy door inside to access the building. Reception area flat, and there is a sloped corridor with bedrooms leading off it which would be accessible.( but fully booked on the night) No lift to upper floor. Our suite was roomy , plenty of room to manoeuvre the chair, bathroom wasn’t an accessible one, but had sufficient room to manoeuvre with walking frame( it also had a sadly for me an inaccessible jacuzzi!)There was a sauna in our room also…..enough room for a chair! Large roomy bed, quite high. Plenty of seating for a rest in reception area Signage sufficient Fire exit door to access restaurant took a bit of careful negotiating to avoid coming off the ramp
Toilets
Accessible loo in reception , smart, clean, roomy, and plenty of grab rails
Staff
The staff could not have done more to help me, they were friendly , very welcoming and helpful. Especially the gentleman ( whom I think may have been the manager)who rectified the room situation very quickly.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
The food was fantastic ( huge portions) and amazing views from the Inn. I would visit again if access to the restaurant was improved, perhaps by extending the flagstone path, and also if the booking procedure was made through the hotel, and not a central call centre ..
