Overview

Lunch for 3 work colleagues booked without much notice. Disabled parking space next to the entrance door, short, smooth path to the door. It’s an olde worlde pub so the door we used is narrow (contact to check if there is a wider door if you need it, crutch use in our group was fine). The main positive was that the staff were so accommodating and welcoming, from our table request, to good communication at the table. Their smiles and gestures, getting our attention to speak and curiosity about our BSL use was “just right”. The food was great too. We were not rushed to leave. Felt very welcome and cared for.

Transport & Parking

Disabled parking spot next to the pub entrance. Decent sized car park. Pub situated amongst housing in a big village/ small town.

Access

Olde worlde pub so doors, short corridors and floor level changes could be problematic for some. Outdoor bench tables and chairs not the easiest to “get your leg over”. Lighting was good through multiple small windows on a sunny day for lip reading/ reading the menus. No background music, a comfort there not to have background noise, similarly enough soft furnishings to dampen clattering sound (good for deaf people and those with autism who prefer quiet.

The staff were the best point. Accommodating, genuine, good at communication access, effortless patience- can’t imagine anything phases them in terms of disability adjustments. If you have a snag they’ll look to resolve it.
