Overview

Before visiting here I contacted the pub to enquire about access for a wheelchair user, were they open on a Monday or Tuesday, as it seems many places in England are only open Wednesday to Sunday lunchtime. The manager got back to me very quickly saying it was accessible as was the covered eating area over the road next to the river Avon. We booked for the Monday night . The pub and outside eating area were quite busy due no doubt to the good weather. We had decided to eat inside as that would be cooler. The car park Is over the road but no disabled parking spaces, and as with many car parks it’s gravel not easy for a wheelchair, scooter, walking aid etc. They had suggested that as we were eating inside if possible I would be better in the wheelchair. Which I was more than happy with. Entrance is just up a small step about half an inch high. So no problem for the wheelchair. It’s a cosy old fashioned pub with many original features. The table allocated to us was easy to get to and a chair had already been removed ready for my wheelchair. The menu is varied and reasonably priced. Monday night was steak night. My husband and I both opted for the sirloin steak which came with peas, onion rings tomato and chips plus a sauce. Due to my allergies I couldn’t have the peppercorn sauce but they Were more than happy to change it for the honey and mustard sauce. Our son and daughter in law had burger, salad and chips , hunters chicken chips and salad. I must say the portions were extremely generous, all the food was cooked to perfection. Unfortunately we had no room for pudding despite the pudding menu looking very good, all the staff were helpful. We would certainly visit again when in the area. It’s in such a lovely setting. We had an excellent meal and evening with our family .

Transport & Parking

4

The reason for four stars is purely because it’s a gravel car park. And no marked space for disabled parking. Although having said that we were able to park easily and have enough room for me to open the car door to it’s full width. So it wasn’t a problem.

Access

Access to the pub was good you just had to cross the road and go down it a short way to the. Pub entrance. The entrance is up a short slope and straight into the pub, there was enough room for me to get the wheelchair round the tables,

Staff

Staff were helpful, they were more than happy to check with the chef on ingredients used due to my allergies. And even offered to change the sauce for my steak which they served in a small pottery jug next to my steak on my plate. So I could try it first .

Anything else you wish to tell us?

Hand sanitizer at the entrance, cutlery was wrapped , condiments were placed on the table if required .
