Overview
Walked in the grounds on the paths and had lunch in the café. Visited the Stories in Stitches exhibit.
Transport & Parking
I walked to the venue as I live locally, however I am pleased to report the car park and accessible parking spaces are finally repaired. The accessible entrance paving has also been repaired.
Access
The accessible access is to the right of the building if you face the front. There is signage but it isn't that noticeable. There's a buzzer which when pressed, staff attend and entrance is granted . It's easier to leave as you're not required to be assisted by staff as long as you shut the door firmly behind you. The paving has been repaired and there is a new wheel friendly cross point.
Toilets
The accessible toilet is to the right of the accessible entrance. It's clean and tidy. Has grab rails and is big enough for a wheelchair and carer.
Staff
The staff are friendly and willing to help if required. The café staff were saying they could accommodate with notice, a party of up to 10 with accessible requirements. The café is well laid out with space for wheel users.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
The museum has lifts to all Upper areas with push button openers to the exhibition areas. Well done Bowes Museum I think you're offering excellent facilities .
