Overview
This is a trip up the famous Blackpool Tower to the first level that has changed a bit over the last few years The Tower Eye experience includes a 4D Experience ! This is watching a 3D film classes are provided as well as being sprayed by water this is very lightly done and experiencing wind being blown at you as well. This takes about 10mins or so you then take a lift to the first level of the Tower the trip up takes 90 seconds when the doors open you are meet with a wall and floor of class. You do not need to step on to the class if you do not want to. On the day of our visit it was clear and you could see for many miles.
Transport & Parking
The nearest parking would be available at the Hounds Hill shopping centre around 10mins away I did not visit the parking area during this visit. The tram stop is just across the road from the tower as is local bus services as well
Access
The access is from the back of the tower as it gives you level access as you enter you will find the desk to purchase your tickets from. You then go through the bottom level of the tower towards the lifts staff will point you in the right direction for this. You then take the lift to level 5 as you exit you will see a sign telling you the way to go. There are stairs up to the theatre are that you experience the 4D however there is also a wheelchair lift as wheel the type that takes wheelchair user and carer that you hold the button down. There are two lifts up the tower after your 4D experience these are operated by staff. You can move about the first level with a chair however if you want to go higher then it is a spiral stair case and the tower in open air no more class windows
Toilets
A number of good accessible toilets Radar key required
Staff
The staff are fantastic after coming back down to level 5 we made our way to the lifts to exit the building its self at this point we found that both lifts were out of service. We spoke to a member of staff who made a call over there radio system to check what the problem was. They was a problem that was being worked on however the staff quickly escorted us through leave 5 to a staff lift and helped us return to ground level. As we were going out someone else was being directed to the staff lift. Nothing was a problem to the staff who were amazing
Anything else you wish to tell us?
This is an amazing experience and is well worth doing however the 4D experience has flashing lights that might not be good for some people. Anyone who does not like heights might also have an issue at the class floor and walls. From what I have learned there can be very large queues of people waiting to experience this at peak periods so you might have a long wait at times
