Overview
Came on NYE and stayed into the wee hours. Side entrance and accessible toilet are good and staff are great!
Transport & Parking
Grassmarket can be a bother to get to on foot/wheels due to narrow pavements from city centre. Lothian Bus 2 stops on the street. There is limited parking and a big paid car park about 10/15 min walk away (Castle Terrace)
Access
Level access through a side entrance. Staff are always on hand if you need help getting in this way. Lighting is dim and there are multiple TV screens around the pub that flash / play different things. There is a quiet space at the bar that servers suggest people in wheelchairs use so there is more space and they can be seen easily. There are a mixture of booths, tables, stools etc to sit on. Signage is good.
Toilets
RADAR key required. The lock is a bit jerky (reported to staff on Dec 31st). Limited space - one wheelchair and an assistant would maybe struggle. Handrails on both sides and red cord on right hand side - although this does not reach the ground. Space under sink to roll under. The toilet opens onto the main floor so no corridors or tight spaces to move around.
Staff
The security and bar staff were all lovely and made sure I was comfortable throughout the night.
