Overview

Best chips I've had in a while but the wheelchair access is not great. The staff were very helpful however.

Transport & Parking

There is a car park to the right of the building but its on a hill. We didn't use this car park but used the large one across the road which has several accessible bays. There is level pavements and crossings over the road to the pavement outside the restaurant.

Access

If you are using a wheelchair you can only access the restaurant via a long ramp from the carpark side of the building. This takes you to the eating area outside the conservatory. It is a ramp to nowhere! You have to knock on the fire door on the side of the building to get the staff to open the door. Once through the door you can access the restaurant but you cannot get to the patio at the front at all. There are steps out of the front door. It was a sunny day so we wanted to sit outside and enjoy the view. This meant we had to use the picnic benches, which was okay but you can't get a wheelchair up to the tables, I sat sideways to the end of the table. Every time my husband went inside or came back out a member of staff would close the fire door meaning we had to knock to get it opened again. However the staff explained that planning permission had been applied for to change this from a fire door to a normal door so it could be opened from the outside and allow better access to the building. The staff were excellent and kept an eye on us and came out regularily to check if we needed anything.

Toilets

Once you manage to get in the building through the fire door the toilets were good! Located to the right inside the conservatory. The doors were easy to open and the area was very clean. Cannot fault them at all.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

The food was excellent. We both had the scampi and chips. It was freshly cooked, served with a great tartar sauce. We didn't have to wait more than 10 mins from ordering and the chips were the best I've had in sometime. I would go back even though the access is not the best! Sitting outside on sunny day watching the ships sail under the 3 bridges was very relaxing. Lovely views over the Forth.
