Overview

During this audit I felt Tesco's deserves a four star in this audit as the it is incredibly wheelchair friendly and easily accessible for anyone with a disability. There are disabled toilet's available along with helpful staff and accessible parking for the disabled.The supermarket approachable staff that are more than happy to help any customer with any queries or difficulties they may have. The shopping aisle are wide which is ideal for wheelchair access. There is an accessible disabled toilet located near the customer service desk.

Transport & Parking

Tesco’s has a large car park. There is free parking 24 hours a week with several family parking spaces available and disabled parking spaces are located along the entrance. There is a path leading from the entrance to the end of the car park and a pedestrian crossing with zebra stripes to aid anyone with a visual impairment. There are two shopping trolley storage stocks located in the middle of the car park and one near the main entrance.

Access

Tesco’s supermarket Claremorris is very accessible and wheelchair friendly. The is no steps near the entrance and there is a slope onto the pavement. The supermarket has wide doors necessary for wheelchair users to pass through comfortably. Nonetheless assistance is required to reach some desired products on the higher shelves.

Toilets

There are male and female toilets next to the butchers again near the side entrance. There is a disabled toilet located to the customer’s service desk. The disabled toilet has an emergency pull chord and an emergency alarm, everything is at a level access. The room is spacious to allow wheelchair movement and there is also a baby changing board located here and in the female toilet. The toilets have bright lighting for anyone with a visual impairment.

Staff

The staff at this supermarket are very welcoming and eager to help. If any assistance is required, the members of staff are happy to help or accommodate you if at all possible. There is also a customer service desk located near the side entrance and the disabled toilet.
