Overview
Lively university union bar with relatively cheap drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) as well as a range of hot and cold food. Staff are friendly and willing to help. There is also a large outside terrace area which is lovely when it's sunny, with wheelchair access outside.
Transport & Parking
You can call ahead to request a disabled parking space, but otherwise the nearest parking is on Woodhouse street, which is a 15 minute walk up the hill to get to the university. However there is a bus stop that stops outside the university (and then a few minutes walk to Terrace Bar), or you can take a taxi and ask them to drop you at Clarence Road (near the union). Buses are regular from the city centre.
Access
To get into the union there is a ramp or three steps with a rail, with two doors that you pull open towards you. To get to the Terrace bar there are two entrances - either three steps up or a ramp (using the entrance on the right). Not great signs to the accessible entrance, but union staff/students usually happy to point you in the right direction. Tables and chairs low enough for wheelchair users, and can be moved about. Accessible entrance to the outside terrace, with space to move around. No BSL/braille, but there is a hearing loop.
Toilets
Accessible toilet available in the union, you need to come out of Terrace bar and it is near the entrance of the union (just outside Terrace). Large room, grab rails, clean and well maintained.
Staff
Staff are friendly and helpful; will bring drinks over if required, and food is brought to your table when it's ready. Might have to wait at the bar for a while if it's busy.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Would recommend to people who are in the area and looking for an accessible place to eat and drink that is cheap and cheery! Can get busy during term time, and if there is a match on, as they sometimes have live screenings of sports.
