Overview

This trail has lovely views across Teesdale countryside. There are a couple of slopes in a few sections plus awkward gates. There's a helpful map which marks access issues clearly, downloadable from http://www.durham.gov.uk/media/4422/Railway-Path---Tees/pdf/RailwayPathTees.pdf. You can shorten or lengthen your outing depending where you join or leave the trail. Great pub at Mickleton (see my review of The Crown). I am reviewing the section running north from Mickleton. There's more to the south.

Transport & Parking

You'll need a car as the access points are a little off the beaten track. There are car parks at various points, many with disabled spaces. We parked at Mickleton, which has two designated spaces.

Access

As long as you've got robust wheels it's highly accessible. Some sections have a few ups and downs at the access points, which you may need assistance with (the section running north from Mickleton has a gentle slope - see photos- which I was fine with). The trickiest bit me was a few gates where the trail crosses farm tracks and I needed help with those. They're plenty wide enough though. Surface is firm, notwithstanding a few bumpy sections and the occasional bunny scrape!

Toilets

No loos. Though The Crown at Mickleton is about ten minutes push from the trail and that has one.
