Overview
As soon as I got to Derby I wanted to leave! When you come out the train station there are a bunch of beaten up yellow taxis (Never get a yellow taxi here!). I was harassed to get in one that was falling apart, I hadn't even said I was getting a taxi when three men tried to get me into one then shouted abuse at us when I said the taxi looked unsafe. I then started phoning companies and couldn't find any with accessible cars! In the end I contacted my friend and she got me one that was suitable. The next day I tried the same company who we finally had gotten a car from the night before but we were told they only have one accessible car and the guy wasn't working, they also added when he comes in he "might not take the job". This meant calling the yellow cabs and it was an awful experience! The ramp was dodgy and the roof was low so it damaged the head rest and I had to take the journey with my chin to my chest! (I'm only 5.5ft). The driver drove dangerously, there was no belts or anything to secure the wheelchair. The driver shouted at us and was very rude. I decided after that I would either never return to Derby or never go anywhere there that would require the use of a taxi!
