Overview
Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens is accessible to anyone with any ability. It is evident they have followed relevant guidelines on access and the layout throughout makes it easily accessible.
Transport & Parking
Access
The entrance to this venue is level access with wide automatic doors making it accessible to all. The whole venue throughout is level flooring and there are lifts clearing marked for access to the second within the museum. However the garden area of the venue is uneven and can be rocky which could present a problem for wheelchair users. Also the second floor of the gardens is mental which may again cause problems for some individuals.
Toilets
There are two disabled toilets on each floor of the museum, which are clearly marked. The toilets are spacious and offer support aids and changing facilities, as well as emergency pull cords.
Staff
There are always plenty of staff about this building and all seemed very friendly and willing to help during visits.
