Overview
A Museum that looks at the Industrial life of Scotland there are a wide range of exhibits on show these are spread out over a large area. The Main Exhibition hall is all undercover and has a range of displays. There is a wheelchair lift to the upper level this area is used for special exhibitions and displays. There also displays like a Sawmill cottages that cover different periods of time that let you see the way people lived.
Transport & Parking
There are a number of Blue badges spaces available in the car park next to the main gate and in the car park opposite the park. Coatbridge Central Station is at the bottom of the road. While you can see the Museum from Coatbridge Sunnyside Station it is a long walk round via the town centre The nearest bus service are from Coatbridge Fountain area this is around 10mins walk away from here you can get local buses plus services across Lanarkshire and into Glasgow.
Access
From the main gate in it is level as you head to forwards the main exhibition hall. The main hall has plenty of room move around and see the displays. However as you move about the site you find a range of surfaces from Tar, Slabs and old types of cobles that are used to give you a better picture of life during periods of time. So you do need to take care on some of these as they can be slippery There is a tramcar system on site and one tram can take a wheelchair however it is not always running. You can not get a wheelchair in to the old house due to steps at doors and there is a large hill from the main hall area down to the canal that will not be suitable for everyone
Toilets
Has to be as there is a wonderful Changing Place Toilet available this is located in the main exhibition hall area and is on your left hand side as you enter the hall.
Staff
Found the staff very helpful they even assisted to make sure the lift was working. There are members of staff located throughout the museum.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
There is also a café available on site servicing a range of food that you might expect at these type of venues it is located in the main exhibition hall area there is a door from this area back out on to the main site area. During the year the museum hosts a number of events such as Classic Car Shows, Truck and Model Shows, and Steam Rally type of events. When these events are on the place is always busy as you might expect
