Steam railway Journey
Visit date:
This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Walking Aid, Powerchair
Overview
As soon as we entered the Station we were well looked after I was in a Powered Wheelchair and my Sister was using elbow crutches, when the train arrived at the platform the station guard had me positioned at the right spot on the platform, where we were to enter the guards van, the train guard fixed up the ramp, and with me using a powered wheelchair I had no problem entering the van, my sister brother in law, and I were given free tea, coffee, and shortbread, which was most enjoyable
Transport & Parking
The car park was next to the station, all depends where your parked you could have a bit of a walk, but there is a wheelchair at the station you could have use of
Access
we did not come across any barriers the station was very accessible, in the gift shop, space was a bit tight, but not as bad as some new shops you go to nowadays
Toilets
Sorry I can`t comment on the toilets as I did not use them,
Staff
We found the staff could not do enough for us, everyone was most helpful, and very pleasant right through the journey from those who worked in the gift shop and everyone connected with the set up there
Anything else you wish to tell us?
On the train you could buy a light lunch of soup and a sandwich, which we did and we were served by very smart waiter and waitress who were both very helpful, you can also buy snacks and drinks. both the guards on the train kept us up to speed with what was happening with the engine, while it was turning to take us back on the return journey, I`ve got to say the service was second to none
