Overview

We used this as a stopover before driving home from Scotland. It is right next to the M74 and very easy to get to but that does mean road noise is always present. The site itself is mostly wheelchair accessible, except for the usual obsession with gravel pitches.

Transport & Parking

We arrived by motorhome and were told we could take any available pitch. The site is well laid out with well spaced pitches. We chose one and then let reception know where we were. All seemed quite easy really.

Access

I'm probably going to be a bit harsh here. Access around the site was perfect except that pitches, as usual, are all gravel, which is horrible for wheelchairs. The site is right next to the country park and a Toby Carvery but there are no paths to get to either, so I had to travel, with my assistance dog, in the road. It would make sense to put some proper paths in. The country park itself has a good path and you can walk all the way around the lake... 4-5 miles. In summer there are lots of midges so use a good insect repellent. The lake is nice but I have never seen geese in such large numbers! They weren't aggressive or anything and largely just cleared the path when we approached but all the paths were covered in their poo, hard to avoid with wheels.

Toilets

The site facilities are good. There is an accessible toilet and shower room, with RADAR lock. I used this to shower both mornings of our 2-night stay. Both times, somebody else tried to get in whilst I was showering. Given the site wasn't full, this might indicate a need for a 2nd accessible facility.

Staff

I personally didn't meet any staff. Hubby checked in but otherwise, we didn't interact with staff at all.

Path around the country park with thousands of geese which leave poo all over the paths. Facilities block Main path into the site
