Overview
Great night out, but jam packed, and not a mask in sight! Great atmosphere and acoustics amazing Staff extremely helpful. A bit of a ledge at the accessible entrance, which caused problems trying to access with the power chair, but security helped us over it. An area set aside for wheelchair access , ( visibility not great)right in front of accessible loo, which caused problems for my companion, with people popping in and out . Accessible loo big and roomy, sadly red cord was tied up so high that even my able bodied ( and tall) companion could not reach it. Unfortunately I had changed handbags, and did not have a Euan’s guide red cord card with me
Transport & Parking
We had travelled up to Edinburgh by car, and had walked/ wheeled from our accommodation to the venue. Venue in the Old Town, there was a large carpark nearby, and observed plenty of wheelchair taxis passing
Access
As mentioned quite a big ledge at accessible entrance . Security helped us manoeuvre the power chair over it for us, and cleared the way for us to access the wheelchair accessible area. Building seems to be on 2 floors, but was so busy it was difficult to see
Toilets
We were sat right outside it, so easy for us to find, but although there was a sign, it was difficult to see in the dark atmosphere. The pub/ music bar was jam packed, so I would imagine this would make access difficult for other users Toilet large with plenty of grab rails, not the cleanest I have seen, but it was being frequently used. Badly let down by the red cord and it’s handle being tied up all the way to the ceiling
Staff
Everybody was helpful, and welcoming, but the security staff in particular went out of their way to assist us
Anything else you wish to tell us?
To be frank I think the crowd had thrown COVID precautions to the wind, which made me very anxious. If you want to reduce contact with people, then I wouldn’t recommend it. However the atmosphere was fantastic, so maybe once COVID numbers are down, I would definitely visit
