This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Wheelchair
Overview
Wheelchair accessible with a few limitations. Needs more disabled parking.
Transport & Parking
Only really accessible by car. Given the high proportion of seniors demographically, there is need for more disabled parking spaces.
Access
Though the centre supplies wheelchairs for visitors, there are significantly more wheelchairs available than there are disabled parking spaces. The garden centre is relatively small (comparing with its Christchurch sister centre) and some corridors are tight for a wheelchair. The cafe is particularly difficult with tables crammed in to make the most of the small area. There is also a particularly troublesome door between the cafe and outside - heavy door, narrow space and one of those tricky 1cm lips that always catch the front wheels of a manual wheelchair.
Toilets
Not investigated.
Staff
Generally helpful though, being early December they were mostly busy with Christmas customers and the queue for Father Christmas.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Worth a visit - if only to see the reindeer in December. They could probably learn some lessons from their Christchurch centre, but they do pretty well, with a few niggles, given their limited space.
