Overview
If you're in Edinburgh, around Newhaven and the docks, then Stank Park is definitely one of the hidden parks worth a look. It even achieved Royal acknowledgement with a visit from William and Kate in 2021.
Transport & Parking
You can park by the main gate in the street as there is some unrestricted parking. Buses run along the lower road by the seafront be but warned that there's a hill to climb.
Access
The park is a garden area with some lawns. It was built into the natural landscape and has a lower section down by the seafront and the upper section up the hill where the park keeper's house and main entrance is. Aim for the upper level if you have a mobility impairment as you can walk and wheel around the paths here and enjoy the odd quirks the garden has. The children's areas, the book library and the array of plantings for both pleasure and practical purposes. You can enjoy a quiet time just sitting under the shade of the tress or enjoy the lawn areas. Even bring a picnic or refreshments to make the most of the visit.
Toilets
There are no toilet facilities in the park.
Staff
There are no staff at the park but sometimes you will meet a volunteer from the 'friends of Starbank Park' group.
