Accessible Cathedral in the heart of Edinburgh
Visit date:
Overview
The Cathedral have made a massive effort with their accessibility including the main section, side chapels and their shop. Great for a spot of quite contemplation.
Transport & Parking
St Giles' Cathedral is located on Edinburgh's Royal Mile - right in the heart of the Old Town. There are many bus stops nearby. Not sure about Blue Badge parking nearby.
Access
There are many different entrances to the Cathedral. The main entrance has good ramped access. Once inside the Cathedral there are many side chapels to explore. There is also a shop for souvenirs and refreshments.
Toilets
Know they have an accessible loo but didn't use it.
Staff
Wonderful! We had a fantastic guide called Stephen who gave us an informative yet relaxed tour and didn't overload us with historical facts... All other staff members that we came across very helpful too.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
For the more adventurous & who are able to climb lots (& lots!) of stairs the Cathedral have launched a new rooftop tour which is well worth doing for some tremendous views.
