This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Powerchair
Overview
It's not obvious how you get down to the Church until you go into Kings Stables Road. From here it's a level walk to the entrance.
Transport & Parking
Visitors who want to drive and have Blue Badges can park adjacent to the main entrance. Buses pass along Princes Street and Lothian Road. Approaching from these roads does require negotiating steps. If you are wheeling there you need to approach from Kings Stable Road which is off Lothian Road. It's about 150m from the road to the entrance.
Access
Once by the main entrance there is a ramp to go up. It's concrete and has a hand rail. It may be a little steep for some wheelchair users and they may need a 'push'. A large doorway leads in to the foyer from where you have level access to the main areas. There are some doors and these are wide enough to pass through with a powerchair. There's a shop and information area as well as light refreshments.
Toilets
I'm told there is an accessible toilet. I didn't use it so cannot comment further.
Staff
The volunteer stewards were excellent. They helped with the doors, gave me a warm cheery welcome and showed my the best way to go to see everything. After looking around and returning to the shop area they stopped and spent a while answering my questions and telling more about the Church.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
One of those places you pass by frequently and never visit. Now I know it is very accessible I shall keep an eye out to see what events and concerts are taking place there.
