Overview

For anyone interested in the history of the city, the memorial at Treptower Park is a must-visit! Although the main path through the memorial has steps, there is a step-free route around the memorial garden which lets visitors see the different sculptures that show the Soviet Union's perspective of the Second World War. Carved inscriptions are in Russian and German, but there is some English signage that explains the history and significance of the site.

Transport & Parking

The nearest S-bahn station is Treptower Park which has lift access from platforms to the station entrance. The memorial is a 10-15 minute walk from the station. There are bus stops closer to the memorial, but I did not use them so cannot comment.

Access

Accessibility was not high on the list of priorities for Soviet architects in the 1950s. The main route through the middle of the memorial has numerous steps. There is, however, a step-free route that runs around the edge of the memorial park. This is over well-maintained cobblestones and does not involve any significant height changes.
