Overview
Southpour is the new go-to spot in Edinburgh's massively studenty neighbourhood, Newington. With friendly staff and 'easy access' literally painted on the wall, it's definitely worth checking out.
Transport & Parking
While parking is not the best in this neighbourhood, public transport is excellent. There are regular accessible Lothian buses that pass right by the restaurant, and the area has plenty of dropped kerbs at road crossings. It's within close walking distance of the university.
Access
The entrance is step-free and very flat. There are two doors to navigate, but they are not very heavy. The glass windows around the restaurant and the glass panes in the doors mean that a member of staff should see you approach if you require assistance with these doors. Inside, the restaurant is all on one level and there are many moveable seats at low tables. There are a few high seated tables by the bar. We did book in advance as their website encourages you to do so, and being new it is currently very popular. It is all table service.
Toilets
I loved the clear signage to the toilets which Southpour call 'easy access' toilets. The stars are dropped because again there are unfortunately two (not heavy) doors to navigate to get to these toilets. The toilet itself is clean, but it is also a baby change facility so is a little bit tight for space.
Staff
Staff were fantastic, very friendly and attentive throughout.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Definitely book in advance!
