A superb heritage railway

Overview
The journey along the river is very pretty and there is enough to spend two half days ( or one full day) enjoying the attractions at either end (rare breeds farm one end and otters and butterflies and station facilities at the other). There is also a miniature outdoor railway and river walks if you don't mind some grassy path sections. Train is very easy to access at Buckfastleigh which has the better station facilities.
Transport & Parking
A few accessible bays at Buckfastleigh but the better option is probably drop off as the parking is down a hill/road.
Access
Overall I could get level access to the platform or via a door lip through the ticket office. Buckfastleigh has a model indoor railway, shop and cafe building which we did not go into. Accessible carriage has a manual ramp to get into which is pretty steep. At Totnes the station has the platform and toilets only. Access to the rare breeds farm and cafe is down a slope and cross over the line.
Toilets
Only tried the one at Totnes. Very difficult to use due to a sloped entry, door that only half opens and small space. Not really wheelchair accessible. Buckfastleigh may have better facilities.
Staff
Helpful and respectful.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
We got concessions and possibly a free carer ticket so it didn't cost much at all. I have reviewed the rare breeds farm separately which has the main cafe (no entry needed) for passengers.
