Overview

We went to see The Little Big Things at Soho Place. Putting aside the brilliance of the show, we genuinely had a lovely experience. It’s worth mentioning that we went on the first night of previews. The staff were incredible, and although we are unsure whether or not the vibe of the theatre was due to what show was on and the fact it was in previews, but we have never felt more comfortable being disabled at the theatre than we did on this day.

Transport & Parking

Parking in central london is always a pain, we parked about a 5-10 minute walk away (behind the Dominion theatre). This being said, this parking was in a dark alleyway that didn’t leave us feeling the most safe. We would not park there if visiting on our own. The theatre doesn’t have parking.

Access

There is step free access into the theatre, and each level is wheelchair accessible (with two lifts to each level) . The only downside to the accessibility is that they had narrow walkways, and once everyone was in the theatre it was difficult to get through the large crowds. Outside each door there are monitors with audio (Video relay) for those who need to leave the auditorium part way through.

Toilets

There are Accessible toilets on each floor, all equipped with a red cord. As far as we are aware there are no hoist systems within any of the adapted bathrooms.

Staff

We cannot praise the staff at this theatre enough, they were lovely. Sarah (the access host) and Lauren (the usher on our door) were incredible. They provided early access upstairs for us to sit somewhere quiet, they spoke with us enthusiastically about the show, the access in the theatre, and general stuff (which removed any feeling of us inconveniencing them or burdening them). They also looked after my crutches throughout the show due to there being nowhere to safely rest them at our seats. Alongside this one of us needed to lay on the floor during the interval for a medical reason, they made this happen and informed the rest of the staff of this occurrence (by request) to ensure that she wasn’t bothered at all.
