Overview
So is a wheelchair accessible cafe in the centre of Aberdeen. It had lovely food, helpful staff and an accessible loo. Well worth a try if you're in or around the area.
Transport & Parking
I parked outside Slater's menswear on Bon-Accord Street. It wasn't too far away and the parking was free as I displayed my blue badge.
Access
There were no steps to access the cafe and level access throughout. It wasn't very clear that there was a second over-spill seating area, which could have made things easier. Each table had a removable seat, allowing for flexible seating arrangements. The over-spill seating area did have some raised benches which were not accessible as we were a group of three wheelchair users.
Toilets
The accessible loo had everything I needed, with plenty space and grab-rails etc. As you can see from the picture provided, the red pull cord wasn't tied up, but it didn't reach all the way to the floor either. The locking mechanism could be a challenge if you have reduced hand function, but I managed it well enough.
Staff
The staff were welcoming and offered support wherever possible.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
I would definitely recommend this cafe to anyone visiting the Aberdeen area. I can imagine it would get quite busy in peak times which could make manoeuvring around pretty difficult, but it's well worth a visit.
