Slug and lettuce, York
Visit date:
Overview
The Slug and Lettuce on Back Swinegate in York is a family friendly chain pub by day and a cocktail bar by night. I attended at a busy lunch time. It is located in the centre of the city and there are two entrances, both are flat with wide double doors. There are no steps to navigate, but the street outside is cobbled and so a bit uneven. Inside it is spacious and well equipped for wheelchairs etc.
Transport & Parking
I've given no mark here because there is no parking available as this pub is in a city centre location. There are plenty of bus links into York city centre with various stops around the city depending on the direction of your approach.
Access
There are two entrances, both are easily accessible for wheelchairs and other mobility aids from the street. There are two levels inside - one is slightly raised but steps and a ramp allow ease of access to this dining area. There is plenty of space between tables and around them meaning it is very easy to navigate
Toilets
There is a good sized disabled toilet, which is located close to one of the entrances and near the bar. There is enough space to manouvre a wheelchair. The key to access the toilet must be requested from the bar to use this, which could be difficult at busier times as one has to rely on a member of staff being available to leave the bar to unlock the toilet.
Staff
Friendly staff who are generally welcoming, polite and attentive.
