Overview

This is a fantastic bookshop in the basement of the Brunswick Centre, with a good platform lift to get you down there. Not all the book stacks are easily accessible with a wheelchair. Well worth a visit though.

Transport & Parking

The bookshop is approached down a passage leading off Marchmont Street. The nearest step-free station is King's Cross, which is a long way off. North of Marchmont Street is Euston Road which is served by several bus routes.

Access

4

The lift from street level to the shop is modern and excellent. Beware as you exit the lift at ground level: there is a deep stairwell right in front of it. Don't come out of the lift without having a good look where you're going. The only access problem with the shop is that the many bookshelves are arranged into tiny bays, some of them wide enough for a wheelchair to fit into, others too narrow, and there are heaps of books and other random stuff lying around in the floor, which makes things even more cramped and difficult. However, if you want to get to a particular section, or get stuff cleared out of your way, staff are friendly and helpful and will do their utmost to give you access to the particular shelves you want, or will fetch books you can't reach.

Toilets

This is not the sort of bookshop where you would expect to find a toilet.

Staff

Staff were lovely, friendly, eager to be helpful. One star lost for their bad habit of leaving heaps of books and random stuff lying around in the floor, making difficult things even more difficult for wheelchair users.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

The range of second-hand books is really excellent, and I found a real gem on my most recent visit. If you're wondering about the shop's odd name, read it backwards.
