Overview

This historic building is billed as the world’s first skyscraper. It has had many years of renovations and money spent on it; yet they do not have a functioning lift to access the upper floors if you are doing the tour of the building! This is extremely disappointing because it is a huge tourist attraction in Shrewsbury but by still not having a working lift they are denying access to wheelchair users. I have had several communications with them over this but I’ve been informed that Historical England are responsible for the lift. I do not recommend visiting the venue until the lift is fixed, because you will not be able to see all of the venue!

Actual access to the ground floor is good , and into the cafe, but the upper floors are a no go because they have a lift but it’s faulty (and has been for many months)

Hi We apologise that the lift to the upper floors is not working - the next phase of works to resolve the issue has started on site today and we hope to have some good news soon. The visitor experience on the ground floor, including the shop and cafe, are open as usual and are step free and fully accessible.
