Overview
We went to the town hall as a group of 9 from the Burton Street Foundation for an organised visit to meet Sheffield's Lord Mayor. Sheffield's town hall is very large and spacious, we visited with two wheelchair users and had no issues at all getting around the building. The lift was fab and very easy to use - we fit two chairs and three members of staff in there. Ramps in all the right places and wide doorways - most doors in the building are also automatic and they are working on making them all automatic. The staff were very accommodating and helpful, one member of our group who is a wheelchair user also used to work at the town hall and had an amazing experience working there - says it was a great place to work as a disabled person. They also provided us with hot drinks and a lovely selection of cakes (catered to all dietary requirements too!). Would be 5 stars but we didn't use the toilets whilst there however we have been informed they are wheelchair friendly and easy to use! We got there by public transport so no experience of the parking facilities but it is very central so easy to get to by public transport. Great experience all round :)
