Overview
We visited Shakespeare's New Place in the afternoon, following a morning visit to his birthplace. I enjoyed both but New Place was definitely my preference. The gardens are wonderful, and although a little tight in places, I was able to get right around. The house was interesting and the staff told us lots of stories.
Transport & Parking
We travelled by motorhome and parked in the Leisure Centre coach park, which has designated motorhome bays and is free for blue badge holders. It was a few minutes walk from there into town but the paths were mostly wide and easy.
Access
We entered through a fascinating garden area, which I could have spent ages looking at. There is a ramped path to the door of the house and then a lift so that I could get upstairs. The exhibitions both downstairs and upstairs were spacious and easy to see.
Toilets
There is an accessible toilet and it was clearly signposted. It was plenty big enough and well equipped. It doubles as a baby change but the changing unit folds right into the wall so you don't bump into it.
Staff
All staff were friendly and helpful. One of the men offered to show us some extra pictures and tell us about the ownership stories of the house. He was very interesting and it added to our visit.
