The UK’s first major anthology of D/deaf and disabled poets, Stairs and Whispers: D/deaf and Disabled Poets Write Back, is to be launched at the Scottish Poetry Library on Wednesday, 27 September, 6.30pm. A fifth of the poets are Scotland-based.
The book contains poetry as well as essays, photos and links to accessible online videos (some of BSL poetry) and audio recordings. It showcases a diversity of opinions and survival strategies for an ableist world.
The event will feature readings, performances and films from contributors. Live readings will be British Sign Language-interpreted; films will be captioned and audio described.
