Overview
Fantastic Museum, I have enjoyed visiting since being a child. But very disappointed at how difficult it was to share with my disabled child. They have clearly tried, there are plenty of parking spaces, ramps etc but we struggled so much with the doors which were almost all manual and very hard to negotiate. If I was a wheelchair user on my own I would have been stuck in the stairwell all morning :(
Transport & Parking
Close to Metrolink station - trams very accessible and station has a lift. Plenty of accessible parking bays.
Access
We struggled - which was unexpected and disappointing. Cobble stones up to entrance were very bumpy which my little girl found highly amusing fortunately, but may be very uncomfortable for adults or people who have pain. There are lifts and ramps - but very few automatic doors. Really difficult getting through them and I am walking so could open them, a wheelchair user on their own may well struggle. Exhibits, information signs and buttons to make things work were all fairly low and reachable which was good.
Toilets
Didn't even try these.
