Overview

While not completely accessible without help, this was a really nice surprise. The couple that run the place were really helpful and friendly and have clearly put a lot of time and care into making it a good experience for their customers.

Transport & Parking

We got to the bed & breakfast by car. It is situated almost opposite the school and has a sign outside, so is fairly easy to find even in the dark. There is a gravel car park with space for several cars. However, the gravel is quite deep and I struggled in my manual wheelchair. There is space next to the front door to bring a car down from the parking area behind the house to make this easier.

Access

There is a step up to the front door, which is about how high you would expect for a house, and the door may be slightly narrower than average. Once inside, however, I found it quite easy to get around. There is one ground floor bedroom with more up a flight of stairs. The bedroom downstairs has an en-suite bathroom and both the bedroom and bathroom were large enough to be adequate for my needs. The bathroom has a shower, however the design of the shower makes it difficult to use for people who are unable to stand (see picture). The lounge and breakfast room are both accessible.

Toilets

The en-suite bathroom is large enough to comfortably use with a manual wheelchair, but is not specifically designed as a disabled bathroom and is essentially the kind of bathroom you would find in a normal house.

Staff

The couple who run the bed and breakfast were very helpful and friendly and did everything they could to ensure we had a pleasant stay.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

The rooms have kettles and a selection of coffees, teas and biscuits. I was amazed by the quality of the breakfasts! They have a dog who is normally kept out of the guest areas, but is very friendly.
