Overview
I recently started studying at Scarborough TEC and they have done everything they possibly can to make things as easy as possible for me in my powered wheelchair. They have changed the classroom we are into a ground floor one that is also close to the toilets, they have got me an adjustable desk to do my work on so I don't have to lean over to do my work and they have gotten me a locker to store any emergency supplies in that I may require along with a safe place that I can go if any happens in an emergency. We are all still learning what adaptations need doing as I'm the first person with needs like I have that they have ever had so it's taking some time to adapt and find what works because we are in an old building that wasn't designed for wheelchairs, hence why only 4.5 stars.
Transport & Parking
There are bus stops right outside of the college with the nearest train station only 1.4 miles away.
Access
There are ramps to get in and out of the main building but access is limited to some of the other buildings.
Toilets
The accessible toilets are easy to find and they are also gender-neutral toilets.
Staff
Most of the staff are lovely and understanding and will do anything to adapt to your needs.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
They have put 1 way systems in place around the college and a face covering must be worn around the college but if you are exemt tutors will provide you wish an exemption badge or you can wear a sunflower lanyard to show them you are exempt and may also need som extra help.
