Overview
The Sandymount Hotel is a fantastic place to stay in the heart of Dublin, close to public transport links (the Dart station is a short walk/wheel away to transport you to the city centre where you can experience all the delights that Dublin has to offer, both the Aviva Stadium and the RDS Arena are also within close proximity perfect for sports fans attending matches. The hotel always has a great ambience for Rugby and is a popular place for fans to go for food/drink before a match! The hotel itself is very modern and features the Lineout Bar and a restaurant which both serve a variety of food offerings daily. The hotel is a rather old building but they have done an amazing job to ensure that wheelchair accessibility is very well catered for there are multiple ramps throughout the hotel, including in the restaurant and bar and also two lifts to enable access to rooms and the car park. The only drawback I would say there is access wise is that some of the ramps can be quite steep if you are travelling alone and the lifts are rather small, it is quite a tight squeeze getting my chair into them.
Transport & Parking
There are good public transport links into the centre of Dublin and surrounding areas with the Landsdowne Road Dart station a short wheel/walk away. There is also a Car Park at the Hotel which is available for use on a first come first served basis it also has a few Disabled Parking bays near the entrance to the hotel.
Access
The access at the Sandymount Hotel is brilliant, despite being an older building they have done an amazing job at making all areas of the hotel as accessible as possible, there are multiple ramps throughout the hotel including the restaurant and bar area and two lifts which allow you access to bedrooms, car park, and reception these are rather small so if you have a power chair you might struggle. A few of the ramps are also quite steep but manageable. There are also plenty signs throughout the hotel to guide you around. The accessible rooms are very spacious and modern, featuring Twin Beds, a desk and a couple of comfy chairs. The bathroom has a number of grab rails throughout and a wet room shower cubicle with a seat.
Toilets
I didn't notice if there was an accessible toilet or not - I'll do that on my next visit.
Staff
The staff at the Sandymount Hotel are amazing always so friendly and welcoming, nothing is ever too much trouble and they are always willing to give you a helping hand if you need it.
