Overview
Sadler's Wells is a breath of fresh air as theatres go - modern, step free access, fast lifts, space, accessible everything...and bags of legroom in the auditorium so moving around and sitting is easy. Overall it's geared up to be helpful....and of course the productions are world class.
Transport & Parking
If you book in advance they have a secure car park with spaces for blue badge holders or people on their access list. There is no charge for this. It's approx 25yds from the front door, less on the way out as they open a side door. I managed to book a space on a busy Friday night, same day, and needed to collect the parking voucher from the box office. Excellent facility.
Access
Totally flat access via the front doors, large open well lit foyer, fast lifts with spoken information. Only negative comment would be that signage was very small and hard to see.
Toilets
In addition to the fully accessible loos, there were also several cubicles with outward opening doors and handrails. I rate this very highly, as there are many people who find this helpful, without needing to occupy a fully accessible loo.
Staff
Box office and general staff were courteous and helpful. The bar staff were less so - I think they were working under a lot of pressure.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
The route from the lifts to the cloakroom or accessible loo in the basement is via a short but twisty corridor. It passes by a kitchen. When I was there the corridor was blocked by an abandoned kitchen trolley. The signage for that route is also difficult to follow from the front door. Aside from this, the venue is really fab....bright, airy, spacious, modern, and with parking. Highly recommended.
