Overview
A very happy visit, full accessibility, hearing loops available. One gripe about the accessible toilet.
Transport & Parking
Cutty Sark Station is on the DLR and is fully accessible (check beforehand whether the lift is working by using the Updownlondon website or app). It's quite a long uphill walk to the Royal Observatory.
Access
To get to the Royal Observatory, don't take the very steep footpath at the river side of the hill. Instead, veer off to the right and follow the road inside the park (signage is good). The Planetarium building has full accessibility and a single, not very spacious (but perfectly adequate for one powerchair) lift.
Toilets
There's a decent accessible toilet but some thoughtless or unkind person had tied up the red emergency cord around one of the grabrails so that it was out of reach of anyone who might fall to the floor. Most annoying. See the picture below.
Staff
All staff I encountered were very disability-aware and helpful and friendly. Top marks.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Good permanent exhibitions on the floor above Planetarium level. Great shows in the Planetarium - a fantastic experience, worth every penny.
